Anschutz, Wendall
After 35 years in the television news business Wendall Anschutz is a familiar face to most Kansas Citians. Today he finds relaxation and reward in a field far-removed from the fast pace of the newsroom. On doctor's orders to slow down, Wendall started painting in oil following a stroke in 1989.Wendall's oil paintings have been praised for their spectacular color, rhythm and use of light. While these qualities are reflected in his portraits, still lifes and cityscapes, his current passion is scenes of his native Kansas, with its plateaus and river valleys, golden fields of wheat, postrock fences and farmsteads and the often-dominating sky.
