For as long as artist Michael Walsh can remember, he has been intrigued with the dynamics of light, shadow, form, volume, shapes, patterns and textures in the natural world. He will tell you that it is in the profound and powerful realm of nature where his work finds it’s meaning and fuels his creative passion. His knowledge of painting techniques and use of color give a unique luminosity to many of his landscape paintings. For many years, Michael has been recognized as a master of the pastel medium, and in the last few years, his work in oils also has gained significant attention in the art world. Michael is a graduate of MidAmerica Nazarene University, Olathe, and a Signature member of the MidAmerica Pastel Society.His many artistic achievements include having work chosen for the prestigious 2005 Arts for the Parks Top 100 exhibit and being awarded the Bronze Medallion Marine Art Award of Merit by Art for the Parks. In 2007, his work was chosen for inclusion the Wildlife category of the MidAmerica Pastel Society’s National Exhibition at the Albrecht-Kemper Museum of Art in St. Joseph, Missouri. His painting, Red Onions, was published in International Artist Magazine (June/July 2005 issue). His painting, Spring Hill Sunlight, is included in the Artists of the Plains permanent collection at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln. Michael’s paintings are included in many private collections in the Midwestern and Western United States.
