Lierly-Jones, Elaine
Artist Elaine Lierly-JonesFor Kansas City native, Elaine Lierly Jones, art was always a part of her life, but it wasn’t until she began working with pastels that she saw her star rise.  After graduating from Fort Hays State University, much of her professional life was spent working as a graphic artist. Until nine yeas ago that is, when she visited the Olathe Visual Artists Coalition Open Studios and began her involvement with other Kansas City arts organizations. That also was when she discovered her love of the pastel medium. In just a few years, Elaine has risen rapidly in the arts world and is recognized as a highly talented pastel painter. Her numerous professional awards are a testament to her impressive talent. Most recently, Elaine received the 2009 Grand Prize purchase award by Paint the Parks Mini50, a national juried art competition that is held annually and in 2008 won the Juror's Award in the PaintAmerica Mini50. Also in 2008, she was chosen by The Artist’s Magazine as a finalist in the Animal/ Wildlife Category. Her paintings are included in private and corporate collections throughout the U.S. and England. Whether painting landscapes, portraits or still life, her work is that of a skilled artist who makes her subject matter come alive with layer upon layer of incredible color.
