Lavin, Jamie

Artist Jamie LavinJamie Lavin comes from a family of artists. His parents owned an art gallery, and his grandfather was an illustrator and sign painter. Born in 1958 in Overland Park, Kan., and home-schooled in painting and drawing by his father and his aunt, Jamie also took classes in painting and other crafts as a child. As a student at Rockhurst High School in Kansas City, Mo.,

Jamie gained experience in throwing clay under the tutelage of Jim White, and under Ken Ferguson at the Kansas City Art Institute through a summer scholarship. Jamie spent 20 years as a picture framer doing specialty work until the former owners of Central Park Gallery, Jim and Brenda Miles, helped launch his career as a professional artist in 1993. Since then, he has won numerous awards for his work. Abstract and representational commissions are a large part of Jamie’s business. All of Jamie’s works are a celebration of mixed media. His paintings are represented in private and corporate collections throughout the Midwest.
