A native of Lawrence, Kan., Audrey Leamon attended KU and graduated in 1960. After graduation, Audrey was a teacher and commercial artist until 1975 when a move to Seattle rekindled her love of painting. After a move to Michigan, Audrey was asked to hang a show for Loyola University in Chicago. This led to her work being selected for the Mary Bell Gallery, which then led to several major shows of her work. While working in Michigan, Audrey received the largest grant the state had ever awarded to create a body of work. The work she created through the grant was shown in venues throughout the state. After leaving Michigan and a couple of moves later, Audrey has come full circle, returning to live in her home state, settling in Topeka. She is represented by several galleries in Topeka and has work in many private and corporate collections.
