Bailey, Janet
During 30 years of painting, Janet taught art classes and stressed the importance of drawing as a basic and underlying tool of expression. She believes it is the key to understanding vital balance and design concepts. In addition to watercolor landscapes, Janet explores mixed media. Her works have progressed to more contemporary and abstract pieces, using themes of nature and growth. Incorporated drawing, design and content are skills Janet says she learned at the University of Kansas, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in fine arts and graduated with honors. Ongoing accolades and education include: Atlin British Columbia Retreat 2002;Kansas Watercolor Society, Signature Status; Study Abroad Scholarship Grant, Belgium and France 1988; Dong Kingman, International Watercolorist 1977; additional studies at Washburn University, Kansas City Art Institute and Pittsburg State University.
