Barry was born in Chanute, KS in 1961 and has always had a passion for art. He graduated with a degree in Commercial Art in 1982 and has made a career as a Graphic Artist. Barry now calls the Kansas City area home.
He is a member of the Mid-America Pastel Society and is involved in, and gives great support to, several local drawing groups.
Barry has studied art under local artists such as Ken Walker, Harry Fredman, Sandy Templeton and Donna Yeager. He has attended workshops instructed by Donna Aldridge and Robert Vaughn. His personal library also includes many artists that inspire him. Although he has worked with watercolor, acrylic and oil paints, Barry prefers pastels.
Barry is inspired by the beauty of life and human nature. He works from life every opportunity he has, whether it be a still life, or live model.
His excitement and enthusiasm for art is both contagious and inspiring for those around him.
