Marilyn Wiens Horsch set out to be an artist at a young age. Graphite and pen and ink were her only tools, so she focused on literal imagery and practiced her drawing skills endlessly. Revisiting art later in life, she was amazed at how much more freedom and power the artist has when adding color to the mix. Marilyn is a self-described “recovering attorney.” Her
childhood dream was to be a portrait painter. After practicing law for 14-plus years, she decided to take a few art classes through the Lawrence Arts Center. Marilyn was selected as the Featured Artist for Lawrence ArtWalk 2006, and recently was juried into the PaintAmerica Top 100 show, a traveling exhibition featuring work from artists throughout the United States.
