Patterson, Neil

Artist Neil PattersonASA, SFCA, OPAM, RMPAP

Canadian painter Neil Patterson believes that the appeal of his work is in his use of vibrant, impressionistic oils that he credits to three things: his passion for painting, a child-like approach to color, and his ability to paint his feelings, rather than replicating what he sees.  Patterson has the ability to move from landscapes, to still life, to wildlife paintings with an easy grace. In 1993, Patterson was elected to the prestigious group of intellectuals and artists known as the Salmagundi Club of New York. He was the first Canadian to become a signature member of the highly respected Oil Painters of America (OPA). He is one of just 34 artists to attain the elite status of OPA Master Signature Member and he is the 2010 National President of the OPA.  Patterson has won numerous awards to his credit and has been published in many books, newspapers and periodicals. His work has been exhibited in galleries across North America, in seven Canadian provinces and seventeen U.S. States.
